  Ferrites are ceramic, homogeneous materials composed of various oxides with iron oxide as their main constituent. Ferrites can have several distinct crystal structures. Ferrite core (Some time we call it Soft ferrite) is one of ferrites which has a cubic crystal structure. Ferrite cores are widely used in electrical industry.
   In the early days of the clectrical industry, the need for magnetic material was served by iron and its magnetic alloys. However, with the advent of reducing eddy current losses, using lamination or iron powder cores, were no linger efficient or cost effective. When design a electrical system, compare to other metallic cores, ferrite cores have many advantages:
* High resistivity
* Wide range of operating frequencies-- The suitable frequency range for ferrite cores runs from 1kHz to 1GHz.
* Low loss combined with high permeability
* Time and temperature stability
* Large material selection
* Versatility of core shapes
* Low cost
* Light weight

   F errites may be, and are, "tailor-made" within technological limits, to meet desired characteristics for electronic components. This is accomplished principally by varying the chemical composition of the materials and by making appropriate changes in processing procedures. There are two major categories: Manganese-Zinc ferrite and Nickel-Zinc ferrite. In each of these categories, many different MnZn and NiZn material grades. The two families of MnZn and NiZn ferrite materials complement each other.
